ETSOS Round-up

25th March 2013

Earlier this year we celebrated our third birthday – and what a birthday! We marked the occasion with a bit of a triple whammy as we’d been crunching the numbers to find that:

a) We now have 10% of the top 100 conveyancing firms, and 20% of the top 200, helping to propel growth in 2012 by a massive 43%
b) We have extended our already industry-topping product range to over 500 specialist reports, surveys and insurances, in addition to an unrivalled choice of personal and official searches for all 348 local authorities
c) We had processed our 250,000th search just days before we turned three

To help drive that share and sustain that growth, we’ve made a strategic investment in our sales and business development resource. Nathan Warren joins us as a sales executive; he’s got a great track record in our sector but when he found himself wanting a new challenge, he turned to the company that he couldn’t help but notice engendered a huge degree of loyalty amongst its customer base – ETSOS! We also welcomed David Opie as our sales support manager – David comes from outside of the property and legal sectors but with a great track record in sales. With his fresh perspective, he has already brought loads of insight and ideas into the business, and is currently focusing on improving relationships with our own referrer network.

We’re pleased to report that The Society of Licensed Conveyancers (SLC), who adopted ETSOS as its ordering platform of choice last summer, has now extended its usage of the system. In addition to the host of search, survey, risk and insurance products, SLC members can now enjoy one-click ordering of Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs).

We’re still out and about lending support to both the legal and property communities. ETSOS is now one of five companies that form MLS Advantage, a new buying group for Manchester Law Society members. The group was delighted to be the principal sponsor of the recent glittering Manchester Legal Awards held at the Midland Hotel.

We’re also thrilled to be sponsoring the 2014 ESTAS awards for the first time. The ESTAS are the largest and longest running awards in the UK property industry, recognizing excellence amongst estate and letting agents as voted for by clients. Voting is open now and runs till the end of January 2014, with the final awards ceremony taking place in April 2014. For more information, please visit www.theestas.com

The government has accepted the proposals of the Regulation of Property Agents (RoPA) with wide-spread consequences for estate and letting agents.

The proposals reach right into the heart of the industry to affect regulation, training and licensing.

Fears of Tougher Regulations and Unjust Costs Mount Ahead of Government Announcement

Estate Agents are waiting for the big reveal on Monday after Lord Best has admitted some firms could close when the regulation of property agents (ROPA) makes its recommendations to the Government early next week.

Lord Best, the chair of ROPA, has already outlined the working group’s desire for more regulation.

[NEWSFLASH] Agent Charged DOUBLE Over AML Registration Mistake

Property Industry Eye (PIE) has highlighted the case of an estate agent who has fallen foul of HMRC and been charged double.

On 4th April, with plenty of time to spare, Hayman-Joyce renewed their annual HMRC registration. They paid the fee and thought they’d ticked all the boxes.

Compliance in a Box: The Natural Remedy for Your AML Headache
