Residential Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs)

An EPC Certificate is a legal requirement when letting, selling or buying a property.

The reason for an EPC Certificate is to assess the energy performance rating of a property which grades it from A-G. The assessment will include a survey which looks at the energy usage in your home and assesses the quality of insulation to your walls, floor and loft and also takes into consideration other aspects such as age of boiler, hot water tank and heating controls.

You can improve the rating by following some recommendations. Low cost recommendations could include fitting low energy light bulbs and increase loft insulation. High cost measures could include fitting a new condensing boiler or fitting double glazing. You have no obligation to follow any recommendations and they are given as a guide only.
